>> Awakening Prayer

Awakening Prayer is a weekly prayer gathering for college students Sunday nights from 6:00-7:00 at the Cornerstone. So often we think of prayer as a duty, a discipline, and honestly, a burden. We fight through prayer times, confess that we wish we had a better prayer life, and struggle to find motivation to do it. There is a vision in the bible for prayer that is enjoyable, prayer during which the time passes quickly and we finish with the thought "I barely accomplished anything in the time we had and it's over already!" Enjoyable Prayer
We've all been in prayer meetings that are over-led from the front. Someone talks for a few minutes in the microphone, then leads a prayer and everyone agrees silently. At the Cornerstone we look at the bowls of incense in Revelation 5, which are filled with the prayers of the saints, and believe that quantity of prayer matters. Like bandwidth on your internet connection, it does more good for 100 people to pray at the same time with their individual voice than for one person to pray while 99 others attempt to stay engaged in agreement. So, we keep the pace of the meeting moving, and encourage everyone to participate in as much prayer as possible, in pairs, in small groups, or individually. At Awakening Prayer we pursue the heart of God corporately. What happens in the meeting varies from week to week. But, we always take time to reset with Jesus, encounter Him personally, then spend as much time as we can actually praying.
